Dr. Omar Amirana and Mr. James Lousararian join Cambridge Endo's Board of Directors
Cambridge Endo is pleased to announce an expansion of the Board of Directors with the addition of Dr. Omar Amirana and Mr. James Lousararian. Both of these individuals bring substantial experience in the medical device field, and we are excited to have them serve as Directors of the Company. Summary biographical information about Dr. Amirana and Mr. Lousararian is provided below. Dr. Amirana is a Partner at Oxford focused on healthcare technology investing. He joined Oxford in 2005 with 15 years of industry-related experience in both large and small companies. He previously served as the Vice President of Business Development at St. Jude Medical focused on electrophysiology, cardiology and vascular intervention where he was also responsible for a 20 person R&D team. Dr. Amirana was formerly the CEO of Resolution Medical, a privately held cardiology company in Silicon Valley. He has helped raise over $60M in venture financing which resulted in three IPOs: EP Technologies, Cardima, and MedicaLogic/Medscape. Dr. Amirana was a co-founder of Cardima and served there for seven years as Vice President of Marketing, Business Development and Chief Technology Officer. He was also Vice President of Marketing at MedicaLogic through its IPO. Dr. Amirana has launched cardiovascular products worldwide and holds various patents. He works with Emory University and the South African government to promote life sciences entrepreneurship. He is a co-founder and the Chairman of Propel Careers, a business dedicated to fostering leadership development through internship and mentorship. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and an M.D. from E. Virginia Medical School. Mr. Lousararian began working with Verax as a consultant in the fall of 2005 and was named Chief Executive Officer in February 2006. Prior to joining Verax, James was a consultant for Medtronic Vascular following Medtronic's acquisition of Angiolink Corporation in November 2004. Mr. Lousararian was the President and CEO, as well as a Director and co-Founder of AngioLink, a life sciences start-up in the fields of wound management and interventional cardiology. Prior to the founding of AngioLink in late 1999, Mr. Lousararian was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of STD Manufacturing Inc., a medical device OEM manufacturer. Prior to joining STD, Mr. Lousararian was Vice President of Thermo ReTec Corp., an American Stock Exchange company and part of the Thermo Electron family of companies, where Mr. Lousararian was President of two major subsidiaries and responsible for business development. Mr. Lousararian began his career at Hale and Dorr, a Boston law firm. Mr. Lousararian received his J.D. from the University of Chicago and his B.B.A. (Accounting) from the University of Massachusetts. Mr. Lousararian is also a co-founder of ArthroSurface Incorporated, a start-up orthopedics company and Spirus Medical, Inc., a start-up medical device company in the gastroenterology and urology fields. |
