Urology
Surgical treatments for diseases in the genitourinary tract (GU) carry a high degree of surgical difficulty and surgical skill. Reproductive and urinary organs are not only in close proximity to each other, they are surrounded by sensitive tissue and nerves. Since the slightest error may lead to incontinence or impotency, many urological procedures including prostatectomy, nephrectomy, pyeloplasty and colposuspension have traditionally been performed as open procedures.
With traditional instrumentation, the surgeon is highly dependent on precise trocar placement. Still, some spaces remain difficult to access laparoscopically regardless of trocar location, such as suturing at the 6 and 12 o’clock positions in urethrovesical anastomosis during a prostatectomy.
Autonomy™ Laparo-Angle™ Instruments provide surgeons the access, positioning, control, and comfort needed to make it possible to perform more procedures laparoscopically.
